📏 The Golden Rule: How a Pathani Should Fit
Unlike a formal office shirt which fits close to the body, a Pathani is a traditional “drape” garment. It is meant to flow, not stick to your skin.
For the correct royal look and comfortable movement, the Ready Garment measurement is always 4 to 6 inches larger than your actual Body Chest measurement. This extra space (called “loosing”) ensures the fabric doesn’t pull when you sit or hug.

Fit Tip: If your actual body chest is 40 inches, buy Size L. The Kurta itself will measure 44 inches. This gap is intentional. If you buy a smaller size, the Pathani will look like a tight t-shirt and restrict your movement.
How to Measure Yourself
1. Chest (The Deciding Factor)
Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape just under your arms and across your shoulder blades. Keep the tape relaxed (don’t hold your breath).
- Important: If your stomach is wider than your chest (common in India), use your stomach measurement as your “Chest” size to ensure a comfortable fit.
2. Shoulder
Measure from the tip of one shoulder bone to the other, across the high back of your neck.
- Why it matters: Pathanis have a structured military look. The shoulder seam should sit exactly at the edge of your shoulder.
3. Length
A classic Pathani should fall just below the knees.
- Traditional Length: Ends 1-2 inches below the knee.
A Note on Salwars (Bottoms)
Our Pathani suits come with traditional Salwars (baggy with pleats), not tight pajamas.
- Waist: Comes with a drawstring (Nada), so it fits waist sizes 30 to 44 easily.
- Length: Standard length is 41 inches. This fits men between 5’7″ and 5’11” perfectly.
